Coach Gilbert graduated from The Technological Institute of the Philippines with a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering. He started coaching in 1991 at Poveda Learning Center where he eventually led the team as a Head Coach for Gymnastics and Cheerleading.
Coach Gilbert was an assistant coach for the Philippines Gymnastics National Team where he helped groom the developmental squad. He was also the Head Coach at International School Manila (ISM) for 2 years.
Coach Gilbert's coaching versatility is evident during his strength and conditioning coaching days with the Philippines Ice Skating Team. He is also an accredited swimming coach for the Learn To Swim Program.
A man full of jokes to keep training light-hearted and help gymnasts feel reassured, Coach Gilbert is also a loving father to his only girl.
